Life isn’t always straightforward and can throw some challenging issues at us. Generally, we manage well and find ways to cope but sometimes, however, we may feel overwhelmed. A ÒneutralÓ person who wonÕt criticise or give advice but instead will listen and help you find your way, can be very helpful. This is where effective counselling, tailored to the individualÕs needs, has its place. I offer a quiet, confidential space where you can be yourself and I will support you in exploring whatever anxieties and issues you need to bring, safely and without fear of judgment. My approach is psychodynamic and as such I believe that our internalised early experiences can form an unconscious blueprint for the way we ÒdoÓ life. Through becoming aware of our more negative, stuck patterns and how these may be influencing key areas of our life, we can initiate change, make better choices and ultimately feel more in control. According to your particular goals in therapy, I may also incorporate elements of CBT and other strengths-based therapies if we decide it is appropriate.I am experienced in a wide range of issues working with clients from 14 years old to late 80s, having worked for the NHS, in schools, for charities, in private practice and for voluntary organisations. I also work with non-offending partners and family members to help them manage risk and have volunteered for a number years for Circles South East, a charitable organisation supporting convicted sex offenders to reintegrate safely into society.I also have specific training to work safely with survivors and the trauma arising from sexual abuse, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, dissociation and attachment issues and currently support survivors both face to face and with online counselling.I am able to offer qualified Skype and email counselling at lower fees for those unable to attend in-person.Flexible day/evening appointments are available in Chichester and Portsmouth.
