There are times in our lives when we need some support and help, someone who will listen, feel safe and is non-judgemental. We don’t always understand why we feel like we do, some times there’s a more obvious trigger. If you are upset, struggling or facing difficulties it can help to talk, which isn’t always easy. Understanding our feelings can help us towards a sense of calm and help gain more control over our lives. I work with a genuineness and sensitivity which may enable you to develop a deeper understanding of yourself, developing an increased sense of self-acceptance.ÊI am a qualified BACP accredited psychodynamically trained counsellor, working with adults and young people. Psychodynamics links to the work of Sigmund Freud working from the core principle that our behaviour is firmly rooted in the past and our childhood experiences.I have ten years experience working in an NHS mental health setting as well as five years as a Samaritan listening volunteer and leader. I have volunteered for Place2Be, a leading children’s mental health charity, as a counsellor in a secondary school, and worked as an Assistant School Project Manager.Ê I have a level 4 certificate in counselling children, which encompassed modules on emotional wellbeing, working with metaphor, making endings and difference and diversity. Considering the impact of early attachments helps inform my work enabling me to be creative and playful.I believe the counselling relationship is a special one, based on a rapport of trust, empathy and reciprocal respect. Finding a counsellor you feel comfortable with is key. There are times when depression, sadness, anxiety, panic, family issues, or abuse can feel over whelming.
