I am an experienced psychotherapist/counsellor who believes that psychoanalysis provides the most profound understanding of the individual’s relation to himself and others and the most informative perspective on the therapeutic relationship. For this reason, I use the rich symbolic language of psychoanalysis to illuminate the feelings, fantasies, attachments and enactments emerging from the interpersonal therapeutic encounter so as to enable my clients to become aware of what they ‘commemorate’ in the relational patterns they repeat with me and the active part ‘we’ (my client and I) play now in keeping these patterns alive. I work privately in SW London. I also supervise the work of trainee counsellors and psychotherapists both at university and privately. I offer concessions and lower fees to students, the unemployed and low-income clients as I believe that psychotherapy should be affordable. I am also a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the SITE for Contemporary Psychoanalysis (UKCP org.) (I served as an Acting Chair and member of the SITE Council). As an academic, I have been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate psychotherapy and counselling students in various higher and adult education settings for the last 20 years.
