I am a registered psychotherapist and counsellor based in Cambridge. I have experience working with men and women across all age groups over the last five years in St Albans and London. My approach is psychodynamic, which means working with you to understand the root cause of the difficulties you bring – this can often lie in past experiences. I will listen carefully to what you say and together we will explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours to help increase your understanding of yourself. In this way new insights can emerge which can lead to new perspectives and an increased ability to bring about change. As well as working in private practice, I volunteer for a charity which provides low-cost counselling and I also work in a Mental Health trust providing long term psychotherapy to NHS patients. I have recent experience of working with people caught up in traumatic events. As part of my five-year training I also underwent therapy so I know it can be difficult to take the first step in seeking help and be confident that you have found the right therapist. Our first two sessions will be at a reduced fee and will allow us to explore your difficulties in some depth. You can then decide if you would like to continue.I offer short-term therapy of up to 12 weeks. This can be useful if you have a specific focus or want an introduction to therapy. I also offer longer-term open-ended therapy, working with deeper-seated issues or as a means for personal development and exploration of the self. From October 2019 sessions are available in a discreet location in Cambridge with easy and free parking.
