I provide a one-to-one, face-to-face counselling and personal development service. The setting is a safe, comfortable, quiet and confidential place where you can explore and gain a deeper understanding of the issues you bring to counselling. I will support you in finding your own solutions to the problems that prevent you from leading a satisfying and resourceful life. These may be, among others: social, physical and psychological issues, such as abuse, anger, bullying, bereavement, chronic illness, redundancy, rejection, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, major life changes, PTSD, and identity and faith issues. My way of working recognises the similarities and differences between people, because no two people will react to the same situation in the same way. My preferred way of working, therefore, is to use an integrative approach.Integrative counselling draws from more than one model of counselling so that I am equipped with a range of tools to work in a way that respects individual difference and my client’s unique experience and response to his/her situation. I believe everyone has an ability within to work out their own difficulties given the right environment. I combine Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and Intercultural theory to inform my practice.I bring my skills as a qualified and experienced practitioner: attending to my client in a respectful and non-judgemental way, observing, listening to what is said, paraphrasing and helping the client to reflect in a way they may not have done before. In this safe space, I help you think about what you have said and connect you with feelings that may have been too painful to bring into conscious awareness and therefore been buried deep in your unconscious. I help you get to know how you are really feeling and recognise emotions. When you get in touch with your feelings you gain insight into the source of the problem.
