I help you get some clarity, cope with your current circumstances and deal with your past experiences. I do this using a flexible and adaptive style of working. I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist registered with BACP and have trained to work with individuals and couples. I work integratively, which essentially means that the skills I use will depend on two things. 1) Your preferred style of working. Some like to work cognitively and want to understand the problem they face while others like to understand why they feel the way they do. You may want to find a way to feel better, find a solution perhaps or simply seek clarity. Or you may not have a preference. 2) What brings you to therapy. This could be addiction, anger issues, anxiety, bereavement, depression, divorce, life changes, sex problems, stress, or something else. I work with you initially to develop some short-term coping strategies. As therapy progresses, we will examine the triggers. Depending on the depth you want to explore things to, we will try and understand the links between your past and present, your thoughts and your behaviour. As you gain clarity and your awareness grows, your choices will increase, you will feel more empowered and your confidence will grow. I will work with you at a pace and depth that is comfortable for you. Regular reviews help ensure that we remain focused on things you would like to explore.
