A BACP accredited counsellor working in central Hereford, I have considerable experience of supporting adults and young people through mental health challenges, bereavement, lifestyle changes and relationship or behaviour issues; and I am told that my manner is warm and empathic. My counselling room is comfortable, private, and has excellent accessibility for all. I can offer evening or weekend appointments if necessary.I work from a person-centred core approach, meaning that I address each client as an individual and seek to reach a joint understanding of what you are bringing to counselling. We will seek to share the nature of your distress; how events of the past impact upon the present-day; and how ongoing challenges are affecting you. We can also look at how you are coping now, and how short-term strategies can be unhelpful in the long-term. I will then think about what skills I can offer to bring about real change in terms of greater understanding or more helpful beliefs or ways of behaving.I have up to date qualifications in working with anxiety and depression in young people and adults; and have worked in high schools for several years, gaining an understanding of the effect of family and relationship breakdown, bullying and intimidation, suicide and intrusive thoughts. I also have an interest in the challenges posed by living, working and bringing up a family in rural areas.
