It may be that you have a clear idea about what is bringing you to therapy, but it is just as likely that it feels confusing. Following our initial contact by phone or email we would meet for a session to discuss in detail what has brought you to therapy and how the psychodynamic approach could help. This is an open conversation without obligation in which we would think about the best way forward. My role as a therapist is to provide a confidential and empathic therapeutic relationship to help you explore the things you bring to therapy and to work through them in a challenging but supportive way. The approach I practice is grounded in making sense of the ways in which the events and relationships in our lives affect how we think, feel and behave in the world today. In talking this through in therapy, the aim is always to help you gain new understandings and to move forwards.
