I have broad experience (in NHS, University & charity settings) and training as a therapist. I am warm and down-to-earth and care deeply about supporting my clients to repair and transform their lives. Integrative and Sensorimotor (Body) Psychotherapy informs my whole system approach, which is led by the belief that distress can be apparent in our emotions, thoughts, behaviour, spirit and in our bodies. Paying attention to all these dimensions is vital in understanding ourselves and in leading us to recovery and growth. I specialise in trauma and attachment, offering a unique and effective approach to working which is grounded in neuroscientific understanding. I would work flexibly, creatively and collaboratively with you to address your issues. I have a deep understanding of how our early experiences can affect us in the present and of how we can free ourselves from unhelpful patterns. I offer a confidential, safe space, free of judgement, to explore who you are and what is causing you distress. I pay close attention to the importance of pacing and trust within the counselling relationship. I also hold an awareness of how social, political, religious and cultural factors can affect people’s experiences of the world. You may need help to achieve greater stability, to understand yourself better, to improve your relationships (at work or in your personal life), to pursue your goals, to achieve greater peace of mind and/or to process and transform experiences of pain, trauma and distress. I am hopeful in the potential for therapy to transform and help you to achieve greater peace of mind, resilience and spontaneity to enjoy the present and live life to the full.
